Austin's Update (September 2022)

Posted by Austin Hill on

I’d like to invite you to begin a conversation with me about our worship services. As we’ve stated earlier this summer, our one-service schedule has spurred some thoughts and questions about how we gather together to worship God.

In the coming weeks, on Sunday, October 2nd and Sunday October 16th, between both morning services, I’ll be hosting an information conversation with folks about our worship services. We’ll have these conversations in the commons from 10am to 10:40am.

These won’t be the only opportunities we’ll have for dialogue and information gathering this fall. It’s simply a start to an ongoing conversation.

Here are some questions I’d like you to consider that we can discuss over these two weeks:

  • What do you believe corporate worship matters? As a church? As an individual?
  • How does a worship service benefit from the presence of others?
  • Which parts of the worship service connect with you the most? Why?
  • How does a worship service encourage and strengthen you?
  • When has a worship service challenged your faith and helped you grow as a person?
  • What is the most important element of a worship service that must never be compromised? Why do you think so?
  • What do you think or feel when a part of a worship service does not connect with you?
  • What energizes you more: participating in a worship service with more people you know, or worshipping in a style you are most comfortable with?

This conversation will be fairly open-ended and exploratory. So please come ready to share your thoughts and hear from one another. I’ll see you on the 2nd or the 16th at 10am in the commons!
