Sara's Update 2/20

Posted by Sara Hill on

In January, representatives from the six Presbyteries in Iowa gathered in Perry, IA, for a 24-hour retreat. This group has been meeting every-other-month for the last 18 months to discuss the future and dream together. At first, we all came with our own desires and feelings, but through team building we now notice a shared future between us. We have seen the figurative walls between us dissolve, thanks be to God! By the end of our time together in Perry last month we had a draft of a proposal for the Presbyteries to consider.

This proposal suggests ways we can share resources in the future and proposes a timeline to be executed in the next 12 months. All of us are proud of this document and are excited to share it with the Councils of each Presbytery on March 15th.

I’d ask for your prayers for that day, for our excitement and the work of the Holy Spirit to be evident to all that day. Some people will come to the meeting excited about the prospect of sharing resources and others will come with skepticism. Please pray that God would lead us in a way forward.

I have enjoyed my time on this committee and look forward to other ways to serve our denomination. I will moderate the stated meeting of the Presbytery on March 6th and am enjoying my moderatorial year thus far. Thank you for your support!

See you in worship,

Sara
