Sara's Update 1-15-19

Posted by Sara Hill on

Now that it is January, registration is open for summer camp at Lakeshore Center at Okoboji! The theme this year is “Peace it Together!” My daughter tells me that she wants to go to an entire week away, although we might get her to settle for a half-week for her first time away from mom and dad. Our son who is more introverted will be thrilled to go to a Fun Day for his first camp experience. Camps run weekly from June 9th through August 2nd. There are camps available for PreK students through adults, including the popular Sheep & Shepherds for kids and a special adult in their life (mom, dad, grandma, grandpa…).

Camp holds a special place in my heart, as I grew in my relationship with God by leaps and bounds every year when I attended our Presbytery of Donegal Camp in the woods of Pennsylvania. I am excited for my kids to create their own special memories throughout the next few years at our Presbytery’s camp (which is now called Lakeshore Center on Okoboji).

Our congregation has been huge supporters of the camp, giving over $100,000 to the camp over the past decade for their mission and ministry on the beautiful Lake Okoboji. Another way our congregation supports the camp is by paying half of the price for kids from our congregation to go to camp. This year, as you register your child on-line, use the code FPCFD2019 when you register, and 50% of the registration fee will automatically be deducted from your bill and charged to our church.

You can find descriptions about all of the amazing camps at their website, LakeshoreCenterAtOkoboji.org.

 Peace, Sara
