Guatemala 2016
14 of us are in Guatemala right now and would appreciate your prayers as we do ministry and serve. Thank you for your generosity in helping us with some of our mission projects. We were overwhelmed with your financial donations to help us build stoves and place people in wheelchairs. Please continue to keep us in your prayers. We land in Des Monies at 10:30pm on Monday night and can not wait to share our experiences with you all.

The participants are: Sara Hill, Steve Pederson, Richard Banks, Gregg Hora, Ray Stanley, John Garton, Josie Shirbroun, Tim Chance, Jen Chance, Ryan Birkett, Shanda Birkett, Ethan Schwendemann, Hope Hugghins, and Jazmine Spurrier.

Lenten Book Study!
Our church family is once again reading a book together during the season of Lent. Last year we learned a lot through the book Crazy Love, and this year we will read the book The Art of Neighboring by Jay Pathak and Dave Runyon. What is Jesus meant that we should love our actual neighbors? What would happen if every follower of Jesus took the Great Commandment literally? Most of us have turned this simple idea of loving our neighbors into a nice saying, putting it on bumper stickers and refrigerator magnets and then going on with our lives without actually putting it into practice.

Lets find out how to “neighbor” in this 6-week study. This book will dovetail beautifully with our Lenten Sermon series. We are praying that this series will take the practice of your faith to a whole new level during this time leading up to Easter. Cost for the book is $10.00. Please sign up on the sign up sheet (in the commons or outside of the CLC) or e-mail Sara to sign up! Signing up will simply help with numbers, so please attend even if you didn’t sign up. Books will be distributed at the first class.

3 class times:

  • Sundays during Faith Alive 9:55-10:45am
  • Sunday evenings 6:00-7:00pm
  • Wednesdays noon-1:00pm.

All classes will meet in the conference room and will begin on Sunday, February 14 or Wednesday, February 17.
